- State President To Lam on June 13 hailed the People’s Procuracy sector’s contributions to the detection of and dealing with corruption and other negative phenomena, in a working session with leading officials of the Supreme People’s Procuracy in Hanoi on June 13.

Lam acknowledged the sector’s efforts to closely coordinate with litigation agencies to speed up the handling of cases, especially serious and complex corruption, economic and position-related ones under the monitoring of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena; and apply different measures to increase the retrieval rate of lost and misappropriated assets. - Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man received new ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste in Hanoi on June 13.

Stressing the special and crucial position of Southeast Asian neighbouring countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Man said they form a top priority and an integral part of Vietnam's foreign policy. Read full story

- Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasised guidelines and policies adopted by the Party and the State to facilitate children’s all-round development at a meeting with outstanding members of the Ho Chi Minh Vanguard Children's Union (HVCU) from Ho Chi Minh City.

- Vietnam has been the largest trading partner of China’s Guangxi province for the past 25 years, and the building of a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance between the two countries has given Guangxi an important mission and brought about new historical opportunities for its development.

Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Lan Tianli, stated this at a press conference in Beijing on June 12, during which he noted that thanks to geographical and cultural proximity, the traditional friendship between Guangxi and Vietnam is becoming stronger and cooperation and exchanges closer. - Vietnam looks forward to further developing deep friendship with Nauru, said Ambassador to Australia and Nauru Dang Hung Tam as he paid a courtesy call on Nauru High Commissioner to Australia Camilla Solomo on June 13.

Tam expressed his delight at the development of ties between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2006. He highlighted that at the 2018 trip to Vietnam by then Nauru President Baron Divavesi Waqa, leaders of the two sides agreed to increase bilateral delegation exchanges and cooperation in arenas of common interest. They also agreed to coordinate at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations and the Global Environment Fund. Read full story

- Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu called on member states to continue implementing the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) with a goodwill spirit, while addressing the 34th meeting of States Parties to the UNCLOS (SPLOS-34) held in New York from June 10-14.

Vu emphasised the role and importance of the convention as the "Constitution of Oceans" - a comprehensive legal document that regulates all activities of countries in the field of seas and oceans, and an important basis for the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 on the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources. - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Lien Viet Post Joint Stock Commercial Bank (LPBank) on June 12 signed a financing package of up to 80 million USD to expand access to finance for a women-owned small and medium-sized enterprises (WSMEs) project in Vietnam.

The financing comprises a 30 million USD loan from ADB’s ordinary capital resources and 50 million USD syndicated parallel loans, with 30 million USD from the Export–Import Bank of China (CEXIM), and international cooperation and 20 million USD from the ILX Fund, an Amsterdam-based asset manager focused on supporting the Sustainable Development Goals in emerging markets. ADB acted as the mandated lead arranger and bookrunner for the entire financing. Read full story

- The retail prices of E5 RON 95 petrol increased by 260 VND to 22,230 VND (0.87 USD) per litre from 3pm on June 13, following the latest adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

Meanwhile, the retail price of E5 RON 92 petrol rose by 170 VND to 21,310 VND per litre./. Read full story
