✤ - Visiting Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy held separate meetings with Senator John Boozman, Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, and Representative Glenn GT Thompson, Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture on the afternoon of June 5 (local time).

- A high-ranking delegation of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam led by its Chief Justice Le Minh Tri paid a working visit to China’s Guangdong province from June 3 to 5.

During the trip, the delegation held working sessions with the Guangdong High People's Court (GHPC), the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court (SIPC), and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA), focusing on development and experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to support judicial proceedings in the two countries’ courts. - The Vietnam Coast Guard and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have agreed to deepen collaboration, covering education and capacity-building.

At a reception for Kobayashi Yosuke, Chief Representative of the JICA Office in Vietnam in Hanoi on June 5, Lieutenant General Le Quang Dao, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard expressed confidence in the Japanese official’s continued contributions to fostering the strong partnership between the two countries, particularly between the Vietnam Coast Guard and its Japanese counterpart. - Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu led a Vietnamese delegation to attend the Octopus Conference 2025 on combating high-tech crime held at the Council of Europe headquarters in Strasbourg, France from June 4-5.

Held every 12 to 18 months by the Council of Europe, the event constitutes one of the biggest and finest platforms of exchange in cybercrime, gathering experts from more than 100 countries, international organisations, private sector and academia. Read full story

- Ho Chi Minh City is racing to finalise staffing and operational plans for its newly-restructured wards and communes, ensuring seamless services for residents and businesses once they begin operations on July 1.

Right now, the city manages 1,873 administrative procedures, including 1,435 at the provincial level, 286 at the district level, and 152 at the commune level. With the elimination of district-level governance, the 286 district procedures will either shift to provincial agencies or be assigned to the new ward and commune authorities. Read full story

- A series of major corporation have proposed to build urban railway lines in Ho Chi Minh City, helping the city complete a metro network of more than 500km in the next two decades.

The Dai Dung Corporation, Construction Corporation No. 1 Joint Stock Company (CC1) and Hoa Phat Group have formed a partnership called DCH and proposed the HCM City People's Committee allow them to participate in local urban railway projects as the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) general contractor. ꦺ - Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.16% in May compared to April, mainly due to higher costs for rental housing, home maintenance materials, electricity and dining out, the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance reported on June 6.

The May CPI was up 1.53% compared to December 2024, and rose 3.24% year-on-year. Read full story

- The total foreign trade hit 355.79 billion USD in the first five months of 2025, up 15.7% year-on-year, according to the Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance.

The country's export earnings grew by 14% while its imports rose by 17.5%, resulting in a trade surplus of 4.67 billion USD during the period. Read full story

🎉 - The MICHELIN Group on June 5 officially unveiled its list of 181 dining establishments featured in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide for Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, further cementing Vietnam’s burgeoning status as a global culinary destination.

Among this year’s venues, nine restaurants are awarded the one-star rating (including one newly listed and one upgraded), 63 Bib Gourmand establishments known for their exceptional quality at reasonable prices (including nine new ones), and 109 MICHELIN Selected places (including 14 named for the first time) singled out for the high standard of their cuisine. - The Vietnam International Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition 2025 (Vietnam Medipharm Expo) is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City from July 31 - August 2, according to a representative from Vinexad, the event’s organiser.

The expo is expected to pack in 450 exhibitors from 23 countries and territories, including Austria, the European Union (EU), the US, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Turkey. They will showcase products across 500 booths and welcome 12,000 visitors, including doctors, distributors, manufacturers, and importers. Read full story

- A large-scale carnival parade, a grand music show and vibrant international cultural, sport exchanges will headline the Nha Trang Sea Festival 2025, expected to draw over 20,000 visitors throughout June.
