– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed the China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD) continue its contributions to ensure energy security for Vietnam, while receiving Peng Gangping, Chairman of its subsidiary – China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd. - on May 14.
Welcoming Peng and his delegation, PM Chinh expressed his belief that their visit and meetings with ministries, agencies, businesses, and relevant partners in Vietnam will yield many positive and substantive results. Read full story
– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed a special task force be formed and a month-long nationwide crackdown launched to fight smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeits, low-quality goods, those with unverified origin, and intellectual property-infringing products.

He requested a special task force be formed immediately under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, head of the National Steering Committee for fighting smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeits (Steering Committee 389). Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security will coordinate with other ministries and localities to launch the crackdown, which will run nationwide from May 15 to June 15. Read full story
– Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s upcoming official visit to Vietnam is expected to provide an opportunity for leaders of the two countries to foster bilateral ties and discuss a shared strategy for prosperity of both countries and their people, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya told the press ahead of the visit.
During this visit, which will take place from May 15-16, PM Pham Minh Chinh and PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra will co-chair the 4th Vietnam - Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting. Read full story
– The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with communist and left-wing parties, including the Communist Party of India - Marxist (CPI-M), Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai said at a meeting on May 12 with CPI-M General Secretary M.A Baby.
At the meeting, Hai handed over a telegram of congratulations from General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee To Lam to M.A. Baby on the occasion of his election as General Secretary of the CPI-M at the party’s 24th congress in early April. Read full story
– Vietnam has been re-elected as Chair of the World Customs Organisation (WCO)'s Permanent Technical Committee (PTC) for the 2025–2026 term at the committee’s 247th/248th sessions, held in Brussels, Belgium.

– Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha hosted a reception on May 14 for Chen Sichang, General Manager of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), a subsidiary of the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC).
Vietnam, he said, welcomes Chinese enterprises, including the CCECC, to actively collaborate with Vietnamese firms to improve competitiveness in terms of technology, quality, and cost-efficiency as they engage in the investment and construction of high-speed rail lines in Vietnam. Read full story

– The Ministry of Health has advised the public to maintain vigilance against COVID-19, given a slight increase in the number of cases in three weeks.
