Chairing a meeting of the standing board of the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation in Hanoi on May 29, General Secretary Lam, who is head of the steering committee, praised the efforts by ministries, sectors, units and agencies in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW issued on December 22, 2024 by the Politburo on breakthrough development in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 29 welcomed US LNG company Excelerate Energy (EE)'s efforts to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners, stressing that such engagement holds both political and economic significance, contributing to boosting a balanced and sustainable trade ties between the two countries.

Receiving Excelerate Energy President and CEO Steven Kobos in Hanoi, Chinh lauded the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the US firm and PV Gas, a unit of state-run Petrovietnam, urging the two sides to work closely together to ensure practical and effective cooperation. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed Oman raise the scale of the Vietnam – Oman Investment (VOI) Fund to 1 billion USD while receiving Sheikh Nasser bin Suliman Al Harthi, Deputy President for Operations of Oman Investment Authority (OIA) in Hanoi on May 29.

- The Vietnam International Electronics and Smart Appliances Expo (IEAE) 2025 officially opened in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City on May 29, drawing the participation of more than 350 companies from China and Vietnam.

The exhibition, jointly hosted by the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (VINEXAD) and the Chaoyu Expo company at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC), covers nearly the entire value chain of the consumer electronics and small home appliance industries. - From 3pm on May 29, petrol prices were revised up slightly, while prices of diesel and other oil products dropped significantly following the latest adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Ministry of Finance.

Accordingly, the maximum retail price of E5 RON92 petrol has been set at 19,196 VND (0.76 USD) per litre, up 74 VND; and that of RON95-III petrol at no more than 19,565 VND per litre, a modest increase of 33 VND. Read full story

- Fetal intervention specialists and pediatric cardiologists from Tu Du Hospital and Children's Hospital 1 on May 28 successfully performed a complex in-utero heart intervention on a Singaporean woman's 22-week-old fetus diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect.

The patient was referred by KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Singapore to the Ho Chi Minh City-based hospitals for treatment—due to the unavailability of this advanced procedure in Singapore./. Read full story
