Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his entourage offered flowers in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at a historical relic site dedicated to the late Vietnamese leader in Kunming city, Yunnan province on November 5, as part of their ongoing working visit to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Summit and hold bilateral activities in China.

The relic site, located at No. 89-91 on Hua Shan Nan street in Kunming, was where Nguyen Ai Quoc, who later became President Ho Chi Minh, lived and worked from February to October, 1940. During that time, he met several Vietnamese revolutionists, including Pham Van Dong and Vo Nguyen Giap, to discuss important events of the Vietnamese revolution. Read full story

- The fifth annual Vietnam-India Bilateral Army Exercise (VINBAX 2024) commenced on November 4 at the Chandimandir military station in Haryana state, India.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Kharga Corps Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar highlighted the long-standing historical, cultural and civilisational links and the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam. Read full story

- Vietnam's signing of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) accession protocol in Geneva on November 7, 2006, and its subsequent entry as the organisation's 150th member on January 11, 2007, marked a pivotal turning point in the nation's development. Over the past 18 years, this membership has strengthened Vietnam’s position in global value chains while demonstrating its strong commitment to international economic integration.

The WTO, established on January 1, 1995, stands as the sole international body governing global trade rules. With 165 member nations accounting for over 90% of the global trade, its core mission is to promote fair and free trade among nations, reduce trade barriers, and support members' economic development. - Vietnam can earn 7.5 billion USD from vegetable and fruit exports this year – the highest-ever figure recorded, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit).

Statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development show that the export revenue of these products hit 6.34 billion USD in the first ten months of this year, up 31.5% year on year and exceeding the 5.7 billion USD recorded for the entire 2023. Read full story

- The budget revenue of the northern port city of Hai Phong totaled nearly 96.2 trillion VND (3.8 billion USD) in the first 10 months of 2024, up over 29% year-on-year, equivalent to more than 90% of the target set by the municipal People's Council.

According to the office of the municipal People’s Committee, the locality recorded stable economic growth in October and the last 10 months. Several economic indicators continued to show substantial growth compared to the same period last year. Read full story

- During its 57th regular session on September 27, 2024, the United Nations Human Rights Council approved the outcomes of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR)’s fourth cycle for Vietnam. Coinciding with this review cycle (2019-2023), Vietnam witnessed significant political events that have strategically shaped its development trajectory and solidified the foundation for ensuring human and citizens' rights, notably the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the elections of the 15th-tenure National Assembly (NA) and Government.
