Agribank funds 1 billion VND for Hue Festival 2018

The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank)’s branch in central Thua Thien-Hue province has agreed to provide funds worth 1 billion VND (44,000 USD) for the 10th Hue Festival.

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) –
The Vietnam Bankfor Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank)’s branch in central ThuaThien-Hue province has agreed to provide funds worth 1 billion VND (44,000 USD)for the 10th Hue Festival.

Under the deal, which was signed in Hue city onMarch 1, Agribank became the second biggest sponsor of the programme, afterCarlsberg beer company - which earlier sealed a deal to fund 5 billion VND(219,500 USD) for the programme.

Director of Agribank’s branch in Thua Thien-HueNguyen Van Binh said this is the 10th year in a row the bank has sponsored thefestival – a special art, culture and tourism event in the central province.

According to Vice Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Nguyen Dung, this year’s festival has received sponsorshipfrom nearly 20 units.

Themed “Cultural heritage with integration anddevelopment, Hue - one destination five heritages,” the festival is scheduledto take place from April 27 to May 2.

The biennial event looks to promote art andcultural exchanges as well as boost service-tourism growth.

More than 20 international art troupes fromvarious countries, including France, the Republic of Korea, Israel, Mongolia,Japan, Thailand, Russia, China and Spain, have registered to join the event.

The old capital city of Hue owns five UNESCOheritages, including Hue Complex of Monuments, Hue Royal Court Music,Woodblocks of Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), Nguyen Dynasty's royal documents andthe royal literature on Hue royal architecture.

This year, the province hopes to welcome about4.2 million visitors, up 10 percent year on year, and earn tourism revenue of4.2 billion VND (184,380 USD), a rise of 15 percent.-VNA
