Another RO water purifier presented to Ben Tre province

Ben Tre (VNA) – National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on April 30 attended a ceremony to hand over a ROwater purifier to the authority of Giong Trom district in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre which aims to meet the demand of fresh water for local people.
The purifier is hoped to supply fresh waterto 12,000 households in the communes of Chau Hoa, Phong Nam and Phong My in Giong Trom district.
The water purifier, worth over 1.2 billion VND (51,357 USD) funded by PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas), has a capacity of 8 cu.m of water per hour.
Once become operational, the purifier can provideeach household in drought-affected areas with a maximum of 60 litres of waterper day.
The sponsorship for installing saltwatertreatment systems in Ben Tre province has contributed to helping locals haveaccess to hygienic water, and save costs for buying water.
According to Doan Van Danh, Chairman of theVietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ben Tre province, in addition to the ROwater purifier system installed in Chau Hoa commune, PV Gas had also funded a waterpurifier system in Tien Thuy commune of Chau Thanh district.
So far, a total of 24 RO water purifiersystems have been installed in 35 water plants in Ben Tre province.
Danh said more than 1,000 organisations, individualsand businesses donated water tanks, water purifiers and water bags to the localauthorities to help locals tackle water shortages caused by drought and salineintrusion./.
Farmers in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang have adopted many new farming models to adapt to climate change, which has helped them cope with the severe saltwater intrusion.
The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has earmarked over 175.8 billion VND (7.54 million USD) to build clean water supply works in the coastal area in the dry season 2020.
Authorities have instructed farmers in the Mekong Delta to sow the summer-autumn rice crop on established schedules to mitigate the damage of drought, saltwater intrusion and disease.
The Mekong Delta province of Ca Mau plans to build more water supply systems, set up water pipes, drill bore wells, and provide water containers for households affected by drought and saline intrusion, according to its Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
