HCM City (VNA)🐟 – Delegates from APEC economiesshare experience in simplifying procedures for business registration at aworkshop held by the APEC Economic Committee in HCM City on August 24 as partof the third APEC Senior Officials Meeting and related meetings.

The event also updated participants on latest good practicesand new regulations on business registration procedures in APEC membereconomies. Many delegates said information provided by the workshop isvery useful for micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises, which usually facedifficulties in getting licences. The problem is not unique to Vietnam, therefore simplifying businessregistration procedures holds the same significance to economic development inall economies, they said. According to Zhang Ming Shen from China, in order tosimplify the procedures, the first thing is to reform institutions. Theapplication of new internet-based technology is also important, he said. Experts agreed that the application of informationtechnology and improvement of officials’ capacity are crucial to simplifiedprocedures. They also advised economies to draw lessons from the WorldBank’s business environment reports, and improve transparency of information onthe establishment and operation of enterprises.-VNA
