Hanoi (VNA) – ASEAN countries and China have been promoting cooperation on durian, especially in the field of innovation in breeding technology, planting, farming techniques, processing, and ensuring a sustainable production chain.

On July 20, an alliance between China's Hainan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and major durian industry associations in ASEAN member states was established within the framework of the 2024 China-ASEAN Durian Industry Seminar, held from July 19-21 in Sanya, China's southern province of Hainan Province.

The alliance aims to establish an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial sci-tech innovation platform, and promote cooperation between the two sides on durian planting technology, variety improvement technology, deep processing technology, and industrial chain innovation.

Experts at the seminar said that the alliance will help them further promote their advantages in the durian industry. It will also play an active ro🌌le in their cooperation in research, innovation, production, processing, human resources training, and consumer market promotion./.
