Jakarta (VNA) – The Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN) has cemented its network ofregional labour inspectors by establishing the ASEAN Labour InspectionCommittee (ALICOM).

The firstmeeting of the committee was held online on December 15.

ALICOM aims to enhanceregional cooperation to improve labour inspection efficiency in hard-to-reachsectors, and strengthen referral systems.

The committee will alsofacilitate knowledge sharing on strategies and innovations to support labourlaw compliance.

Chaired by Brunei, thefirst meeting of ALICOM took place on the sidelines of the 10th ASEAN LabourInspection Conference on December 14-15. It deliberated on thepotential priorities of cooperation towards harmonious, safe and progressiveworkplaces in the region.

The event offered an opportunity for delegates to discuss competencies of labour inspectorsfor better preparedness and response to future challenges.
