Hanoi (VNA) – Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV)Dinh Viet Thang has stated that Vietnamese airlines have yet to use the Boeing737 Max.
He made thestatement while talking to the media about the Ethiopian Airlines accidentwhich occurred on March 10 morning, making it the second involving the Boeing737 Max in several months.
Thang saidthe CAAV convened a meeting on March 11 morning and decided not to grant alicence to the Boeing 737 Max until the cause is clarified and the US FederalAviation Administration issues measures to deal with it.
Arepresentative from a domestic carrier said it is closely tracking informationregarding this kind of aircraft.
Earlier, aspokesperson of Ethiopian Airlines said the flight ET 302 crashed near Bishoftutown, 62 km southeast of the capital Addis Ababa, with 149 passengers and 8crew members aboard, confirming that the plane was the Boeing 737-800 Max.
The flight left Bole airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 am(local time) before losing contact with the control tower just six minuteslater. –VNA
