Binh Duong (VNA) – The southern province of Binh Duong is striving to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses before June 30, providing stable homes for poor families and policy beneficiaries.
The province has planned to support the construction and renovation of 608 houses, including 31 for people who rendered service to the nation, and 577 for impoverished families and those facing difficult circumstances.
Each newly-constructed house will receive a maximum support of 100 million VND (3,900 USD), with an additional 20 million VND for homes with weak foundations. Renovation projects will receive 50 million VND each.
Along with government budget allocations, the locality is also calling on businesses, organisations, and individuals to contribute to the work.
At the ground-breaking ceremony for the houses held in Phu Giao district on March 25, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Loi stressed that the programme not only provides shelters but also creates opportunities for families to improve their lives. He said this is a collective responsibility of the Party, State, and society as a whole in supporting the people.

Authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu have set a goal to replace makeshift and dilapidated homes for 1,760 poor households by 2025, heard a meeting of businesses on January 17.
Under the scheme on eradication of dilapidated houses in 2025, the central province of Binh Dinh will spend over 214 billion VND (8.42 million USD) on supporting the construction and repairs of houses for 4,429 families of nation contributors and martyrs, poor and near-poor households and those that have just escaped poverty.
