Phnom Penh (VNA) – 🌼Cambodia’s Preah Vihear province is building a reservoir at a cost of over 100 million USD to supply water for agricultural rice crops during the dry season, the Khmer Times reported.

Speaking at a press conference in Phnom Penh on May 26, Preah Vihear’s Deputy Governor Kousom Bunsoeut said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen had approved a budget of about 100 USD million for the construction of the reservoir. Construction of the dam started in late 2019 and is expected to conclude in 2022.   Once it is completed, there will be enough water for about 40,000 ha of crops during the dry season. Having the government’s support to develop the rural area will definitely improve the livelihood of the people and reduce the number of Cambodians becoming migrant workers, the official said./.
