Cambodia determined to enhance ties with Vietnam: Cambodian Deputy PM

Hanoi (VNA) - Cambodia takes pride in its longstanding cooperation with Vietnam and is determined to further enhance bilateral relations in a more substantive and effective manner, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Neth Savoeun affirmed during a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi April 16.
Deputy PM Savoeun, in Hanoi to attend the ongoing fourth Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, expressed deep gratitude to Vietnam for its unwavering support for Cambodia through all circumstances. He also praised Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic achievements in recent years, stressing that Vietnam's development brings about benefits to Cambodia’s growth.

Both sides welcomed the strong momentum in bilateral ties and highlighted the countries’ successful coordination in organising high-level engagements, including meetings between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party, a trilateral summit of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Lao Party leaders, and a trilateral meeting of the three nations’ PMs to implement conclusions reached at the Party leaders’ summit.

On this occasion, PM Chinh proposed that both sides work together to find mutually acceptable and reasonable solutions serving the completion of the demarcation and marker planting on the remaining 16% of the shared border, thereby building a peaceful, stable, and sustainably cooperative border area.
He also called on Cambodia to pay due attention to resolving the legal status of people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia so they can lead stable lives. Both countries, he suggested, should create the most favourable conditions for each other's citizens and enterprises, helping to foster mutual prosperity and strengthen bilateral friendship.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said his country values defence cooperation with Vietnam, pledging to support and facilitate Vietnam’s efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of the volunteer soldiers. He also expressed his support for Vietnamese defence enterprises effectively operating in Cambodia.
ASEAN boasts an attractive investment environment, strong economic vitality, and a steadfast commitment to regional development, said Cambodian PM Hun Manet.
President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary highlighted the long-standing friendship with Vietnam, and held that both sides should develop concrete programmes and plans to implement high-level agreements.
