Cambodia inaugurates Vietnam-funded broadcast station project’s phase I
Phase I of a project on building nine FM radio and television broadcasting stations funded by the Vietnamese Government in Cambodia was inaugurated in Kampong Cham province on November 16.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Phase I of a project onbuilding nine FM radio and television broadcasting stations funded by theVietnamese Government in Cambodia was inaugurated in Kampong Cham province onNovember 16.
The project aims to help Cambodia expand theradio and TV broadcasting coverage and improve broadcast quality. It is part ofan agreement signed at the 14th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committeeon Economic, Cultural and Scientific-Technical Cooperation in October 2015.
Two phases of the project, financed throughRadio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), are implemented in 2017 and 2018.
Under this project, four FM radio stations are builtin the provinces of Kep, Tboung Khmum, Pursat and Kampong Chhnang. Meanwhile,five TV stations are located in some other provinces, including Svay Rieng andKampong Cham.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, CambodianMinister of Information Khieu Kanharith appreciated the Vietnamese Government’spractical assistance to his country in many spheres, including information andcommunications. The broadcasting stations sponsored by the VietnameseGovernment have proved effective, contributing to socio-economic development inCambodia.
Kampong Cham Governor Kui Chamroen also highlyvalued Vietnam’s continuous and unconditional support since the defeat of theKhmer Rounge, helping to improve Cambodian people’s living standards.
For his part, VOV General Director Nguyen The Kysaid he hopes the Vietnamese-funded radio and TV stations, equipped with modernfacilities, will help increase the broadcasting coverage and quality andpromote Cambodia’s capacity of producing radio and TV programmes.
On November 15, VOV General Director Ky, who isalso member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, had a workingsession with Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia Men Sam An and General Directorof the national radio station of Cambodia Tan Sarat.-VNA
