Cambodia lifts COVID-19 preventive measures

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on April 19 that all COVID-19 preventive measures, including mask wearing and rapid tests at various establishments, are now officially lifted following no new cases of transmission in recent days.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced onApril 19 that all COVID-19 preventive measures, including mask wearing andrapid tests at various establishments, are now officially lifted following nonew cases of transmission in recent days.

He noted in a special audio address to the nation that priorto this announcement, attendees at official meetings or those at hospitals wererequired to take rapid tests.

The PM stressed that this is not a ban on testing andindividuals still can take a rapid test if they want.

However, he encouraged people to maintain good hygienepractices such as washing hands regularly with soap or sanitisers.

The leader also requested the Ministry of Health to closelymonitor the situation and cooperate with the World Health Organisation (WHO) inCambodia.

According to the health ministry, after the traditional New Year holidays, Cambodia recorded no new COVID-19 cases on April17-19./.
