Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia always prioritises preserving its good neighbourliness and traditional friendship with Vietnam, which have helped create invaluable achievements – the independence and freedom in each nation, according to an Cambodian official.
Men Sam An, Supreme Advisor to the King of Cambodia, Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), President of the National Council of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland (SFDCM), and Chairwoman of the Cambodia – Vietnam Friendship Association, made the statement during a recent interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency.
The interview was carried out on the threshold of CPP President and Senate President Hun Sen’s visit to Vietnam to attend the grand ceremony celebrating Vietnam’s 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification on April 29–30.
She said Vietnam’s victory of April 30, 1975, was a historic event that ended decades of wars with countless sorrows, losses, and national division, ushering in a new era – that of independence, sovereignty, national reunification, and national pride. It is the clearest testament to the patriotism, solidarity, and unwavering will of Vietnam's brave and unyielding army under the wise and brilliant leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), headed by President Ho Chi Minh.
The Cambodian official highlighted that nowadays, the traditional friendship, solidarity, and all-round cooperation between the two Parties, Governments, and peoples continue to develop based on the principle of good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability.
This precious relationship has been strengthened through regular exchanges and visits between leaders of their Parties, parliaments, Governments, and agencies at all levels, especially the provinces along the Cambodia – Vietnam border.
The CPP always prioritises preserving the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two Parties, Governments, and peoples, she emphasised, adding both Parties are always grateful to each other for mutual assistance during Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as Cambodia's liberation from the Pol Pot genocidal regime, contributed by the sacrifice of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, Men Sam An noted.
She went on to lay stress on the comprehensive collaboration between the two countries over the past years, stating their comprehensive strategic partnership has contributed to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world, particularly in building a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN community.
The relationship between the two Parties, parliaments, and Governments has been maintained in a spirit of mutual trust and respect in politics, security, defence, economy, and society, bringing about common benefits and being the pride of both nations, the official underscored.
🔯 She also expressed her belief that under the clear-sighted leadership of the CPV, Vietnam will fulfil its goal of becoming a high-income nation by 2045 as well as elevating its role and position in the region and international arena./.
