ꦡ – A Cambodian cameraman died on early February 24 after contracting A/H1N1 virus, becoming the first death by swine flu since 2010, according to spokesman for the Ministry of Health Ly Sovann.

Khun No, 30, worked for the Cambodian Television Network. He tested positive with the virus on February 20 and received treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh before his death.
The first A/H1N1- infected case was detected in the country in 2009. From 2009-2010, about 600 cases were recorded with six fatalities.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) announced in 2012 that the A/H1N1 became a seasonal flu disease in the country. There were about 100 A/H1N1 cases in Cambodia every year but all were mild. The virus symptoms are similar to seasonal flu, with fever, cold, cough and unpleasant stomach. The virus then spreads to respiratory system, causing other complicated symptoms such as wheezing and phlegm. Vulnerable groups include old people, children, pregnant women, people with diabetes, cancer patients and HIV-positive people.-VNA
