Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia’s COVID-19 VaccinationCommission has announced the start of the vaccination campaigns for 5-year-oldchildren from November 1.
This will be the fifth rollout to runsimultaneously in Cambodia. The first started with adults aged 18 and above onFebruary 10, the second involving adolescents aged 12 to17 which started onAugust 1, the vaccination of children aged six to 12 which started on September17, while the booster dose for frontliners started in early August.
The number of children in the age group this time has notbeen revealed but this exemplifies Cambodia’s determination to vaccinate 91percent of its estimated 16 million population (2019 census) by the end of theyear with at least one dose of the vaccine and become one of the mostvaccinated nation in the world.
Cambodia on October 31 reported 95 new COVID-19 cases and 7new deaths. It is the first time since April the country’s daily caseload hasrun below 100.
It has so far documented a total of 118,522 COVID-19 caseswith 2,788 fatalities.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Foreign Ministry has announced the country is toadmit visitors from another 17 countries, including Vietnam, without quarantine ifthey have been fully vaccinated from November 1, increasing the number to 63.
To be eligible for the no-quarantine scheme Thailand Pass, visitorsfrom any of those countries must have stayed there for at least 21days in a row prior to their departure, and received their second COVID-19 vaccine doseat least 14 days before their flight to Thailand.
They must also have an RT-PCR test that returns negative forCovid-19 no more than 72 hours before their flight and generalhealth insurance cover of at least 50,000 USD./.
Hanoi will only require testing for those who come from COVID-19-affected areas at level 4 (very high risk) and quarantine for people from the areas at level 3 (high risk), according to the city's Department of Health.
Foreign visitors to Phu Quoc, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Quang Ninh – localities selected in a pilot reopening programme – will not have to quarantine from next month as long as they test negative for SARS-CoV-2.
