Cambodia warns new wave of COVID-19

Phnom Penh (VNA)–
🃏Cambodia has warned a new wave of COVID-19 in the country though it recordedno new infections over the past 16 days in a row.

Cambodia’s Health Ministry Spokesperson OrVandine told the press that the second wave of COVID-19 could emerge at anytime if people are negligent about preventive measures. About 130 garment factories in the country have suspended operations due to a sharp decline in purchase orders due to COVID-19 , according to Spokesperson of the Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training Heng Sour. To assist local workers affected by the pandemic, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced a support policy under which every employee of the closed factory is provided with a subsidy of 70 USD per month, including 30 USD from their employers.

Data from the Cambodian Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation showed that the country is home to 1,099 factories operating in textiles, footwear and handbag industries. Garment is one of the biggest exports of Cambodia. 

𝐆 As of April 28, Cambodia reported 122COVID-19 cases, with 119 patients recovered, according to the local healthministry./.
