A working delegation from the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho will pay a visit to Japan in the first quarter of next year to promote trade and investment in the locality.

Can Tho (VNA) – A working delegation from the Mekong Delta city ofCan Tho will pay a visit to Japan in the first quarter of next year to promotetrade and investment in the locality.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Thanh Thongsaid on November 19 that the city wants to invite Japan’s small- andmedium-sized enterprises to invest in the locality’s Vietnam-Japan industrialzone and attract more capital in the fields of logistics, informationtechnology, and high-tech agriculture.
Thong also expressed hope that Vietnam’s major farm produce,such as rice, fruit, and seafood, could gain access to the Japanese market.
The working visit also aims to boost cooperation inagriculture through high-tech agricultural projects, with the focus onprocessing and preservation technologies.
In the training field, Can Tho has encouraged the buildingof a Japanese language centre in the city, Thong stated.
He went on to say that the working visit also targets toseek official development assistance (ODA) from Japan to build a new hearthospital and seek aid for human resources training in this field to betterserve cardiovascular treatment for people in Can Tho and the entire MekongDelta region.
The delegation will include leaders of the municipalPeople’s Committee; representatives from local departments and sectors; andleaders of hospitals, universities, and enterprises, who are scheduled to visitWakayama and Hyogo prefectures and Tokyo capital city from mid-March, 2019.
The delegation plans to pay courtesy visits to localauthorities, organise a roundtable between Wakayama enterprises and Can Thoauthorities and businesses, as well as hold an investment promotion workshop inHyogo prefecture. –VNA
