A Charity Fun Walk was launched in Koh Pich island, Phnom Penh on May 21, starting a series of activities celebrating the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN (August 8) in Cambodia.

The event was co-organised by theVietnamese and Indonesian embassies, the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairsand International Cooperation and the Phnom Penh authorities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony,Christopher Montero, Ambassador of the Philippines - the country holding therotary Chair of the ASEAN in 2017, said the event creates a driving force forASEAN member states to fulfill common goals for an ASEAN Community of peace,stability and prosperity.
After a 1.6-kw walk, ASEAN andCambodian citizens attended a charity fund-raiser and enjoyed traditionaldishes made by staff of participating embassies.
All proceeds will go to KanthaBopha children’s hospital, which offers free treatment to Cambodian children.-VNA
