Beijing (VNA) - China andthe Philippines agreed to speed up the pace of their cooperative projects,hoping to make vital progress within this year, a Chinese commercial officialsaid on September 9.

Wu Zhengping, Director General of theDepartment of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said theagreement was reached when Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shan and Philippineeconomic officials discussed their cooperative projects on the sidelines of the49th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting and related meetings inManila, the Philippines.

The discussions mentioned projects on airports,railways, and irrigation systems included in the Six-Year Development Programmefor Trade and Economic Cooperation signed by China and the Philippines in Marchthis year, Wu said.

The Six-Year Development Programme wassigned in March this year, aiming to provide a guideline for trade and economiccooperation between China and the Philippines.-VNA
