Binh Phuoc (VNA) – The 11th meetingof the Joint Coordination Committee on Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) DevelopmentTriangle Area was declared a success in Vietnam’s southern Binh Phuoc onDecember 19.
The event was co-chaired by Vietnamese Minister of Planning and InvestmentNguyen Chi Dung, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak and Lao Minister ofPlanning and Investment Souphan Keomisay.
The ministers approved recommendations submitted by the Senior OfficialsMeeting (SOM) of the CLV Development Triangle Area, and noted with satisfactionthe implementation of the adjusted master plan on regional socio-economicdevelopment during 2010-2020, and the amended memorandum of understanding onspecial incentives in the area reached by the three countries.
Lauding contributions of development partners to regional socio-economicdevelopment over the past time, the ministers asked competent agencies of thethree countries to organise more conferences with the partners to mobilizefinancial support for priority projects in the area.
They called for stronger CLV cooperation in such areas as security and externalaffairs, economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, environment,telecommunications, and information and communications technology (ICT).
The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Development was askedto coordinate with Lao and Cambodian partners to soon complete the plan onrubber industry development in the CLV Development Triangle Area.
The meeting requested that Cambodia promptly complete domestic procedures toenforce the agreement on trade promotion and facilitation in the developmenttriangle area.
Lao Minister SouphanKeomisay suggested increasing investment attraction,tapping the strength of each locality and creating an open business environmentin the area.
Cambodian Minister Pan Sorasak held that outcomes of the meeting willcontribute to reducing poverty and improving living standards of regionalresidents.-VNA
