CLV legislatures strengthen cooperation in national defence, security

Vientiane (VNA) – A session on e🍸nhancingthe supervisory role of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) National Assemblies in nationaldefence-sec🌊urity to ensure peace and stability was held in Vientiane, Laos, onDecember 5, as part of the first CLV Parliamentary Summit.
Atthe event, Chairman of the Vietnamese NA's Committee for National Defence andSecurity Le Tan Toi highlighted the crucial role of the three legislatures in oversightactivities and in defence and security supervision in particular. Heurged them to further uphold their supervisory role to prompt each government toeffectively implement signed agreements on national defence and security,toward ensuring the security, safety, peace and stability in the CLVdevelopment triangle area. TheVietnamese side also proposed the governments of the three countries regularlydirect their relevant agencies involving in border management and protection to well coordinate in bilateral patrols to firmly safeguardthe borders and border markers, share information and combat various crimesin border areas, especially terrorist activities and those aimed at subvertingthe three administrations of the three nations. Togetherwith the Vietnamese delegation, the Cambodian and Lao sides suggested continuingto strengthen oversight over the implementation of the signed bilateral agreements,especially in crime prevention and control, investment and trade, residencemanagement while stepping up the negotiations and signing of internationaltreaties to address defence and security issues. This aims to facilitatesocio-economic development in the CLV development triangle area. Theyemphasised the need to identify and enhance mechanisms for exchanginginformation and activities of the three committees to effectively coordinatethe implementation of the signed agreements. Thethree sides agreed to continue their fight against drug and human traffickingcrimes, strengthen cooperation in water security issues and disposal of bombs,mines and unexploded ordnance left over from the war./.

The top legislators of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia will discuss measures to strengthen the parliament's role in promoting the cooperation, solidarity among and political partnership among the three countries during the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Parliamentary Summit in Laos, according to deputy head of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for External Relations Le Thu Ha.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended and delivered a speech at the plenary session of the first Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam (CLV) Parliamentary Summit which opened in Vientiane on December 5.
