CLV PMs commit to carrying out prioritised projects

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Lao and Cambodian counterparts havereaffirmed the resolve to implement 15 priority projects approved at the 9th Summit of the Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV) DevelopmentTriangle Area.

They reached the agreementduring a breakfast meeting in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on November 24.

The three leaders saidtheir countries will mobilise resources to carry out these projects as soon aspossible for better living standards of residents across the area.

Praising the successful organisationof the 9th CLV Summit by Cambodia, they stressed the determinationto sustain and promote their special cooperation mechanism in the developmenttriangle area.

The meeting was also thelast activity of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Cambodia to attend the 9th CLV Summit before leaving for Vietnam in the morning of the same day.

Established in 1999, theCLV Development Triangle Area covers 10 provinces, namely Kon Tum, Gia Lai, DakLak, and Dak Nong of Vietnam; Sekong, Attapeu, and Saravan of Laos; and StungTreng, Rattanak Kiri, and Mondul Kiri of Cambodia.

In 2009, the threecountries agreed to include Vietnam’s Binh Phuoc, Cambodia’s Kratie, and Laos’Champasak into the area.

Currently, Vietnam runs183 projects with total registered capital of 2.86 billion USD in Cambodia,while Cambodia carries out 12 projects worth over 54 million USD in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, Vietnam was thethird biggest investor of Laos at nearly 5.1 billion USD.-VNA
