COVID-19: Singapore tightens restrictions, Cambodia posts record daily imported cases

Singapore’s government said on July 20 that it will again tighten COVID-19 prevention and control measures, including a ban on dining at restaurants, as new cases continue to rise, while Cambodia recorded the highest ever number of daily imported cases.

Hanoi (VNA) – Singapore’s government saidon July 20 that it will again tighten COVID-19 prevention and control measures, including a ban on dining at restaurants, as new cases continue to rise, while Cambodia recorded thehighest ever number of daily imported cases.

Singapore’s restrictions, also prohibiting outdoor exerciseand gatherings of more than two people, will go into effect on July 22.

The country’s number of community cases on July 19 doubledthat of the previous day. According to the Ministry of Health, Singaporelogged 195 new cases of COVID-19 on July 20, including 182 locally transmitted infections.

On the same day, Cambodia reported 825 new COVID-19infections, including 421 imported cases, pushing the national total caseloadto 68,796.

According to its Ministry of Health, 21 more fatalities hadbeen confirmed, taking the death toll to 1,149.

Meanwhile, 1,022 other patients recovered, raising the totalnumber of recoveries to 61,039./.
