Hanoi (VNA) - Wei Wei, head of theVietnamese department under China's central television and radio station, hasexpressed his good impressions on the Vietnamese culture.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency, the official who has been working in Vietnam for many years said that the Southeast Asian nation boasts one of theoldest cultures in the Asia-Pacific.

Unlike others in the Indochina Peninsula, the Vietnameseculture is very close to East Asian peoples, he said, adding that it ischaracterised by modesty, discreetness, and respect for ancestors.   

He described the culture as a combination of Confucianism,Buddhism, and East Asian and western culture. Yet, the journalist said, itstill maintains its own traits.

Such cultural identities help build a Vietnamof independence, freedom and happiness under the leadership of President Ho ChiMinh and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and enable the country tointegrate into the world and reap impressive economic achievements, heemphasised.

Hailing the sound leadership of the Party and theState over cultural development, Wei suggested Vietnam materialise PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s viewpoints in this regard to turn itselfinto an upper middle-income country with a modern industrial base by 2030, anda developed, high-income nation by 2045 as set by the 13th NationalParty Congress.

He also commended the Party chief’s speech at theNational Cultural Conference to implement the 13th National Party Congress'Resolution, which was held in 2021, saying it is very important, demonstratinga profound vision.

Relevant guidelines adopted by the CPV remainconsistent and serve as a significant foundation to perfect institutions andpolicies, and utilise resources to build the national democratic, humanisticand scientific culture, he continued.

Thejournalist also described culture as an intrinsic strength that helps the countrycreate breakthroughs in development and international integration./.
