Da Nang strengthens cooperative ties with Thai localities

Da Nang (VNA)ꦿ - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of the central city of Da Nang Nguyen Thi Anh Thi on September 26 hosted a Thai delegation led by Thai Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Wiraka Moodhitaporn, and Khon Kaen Deputy Governor Siriwat Pinijpanich, who are in the city to attend the "Meet Thailand in Da Nang" conference.
During the meeting, Thi appreciated the coordination of Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in organising the "Meet Thailand in Da Nang" event, which she said is a good opportunity to enhance the friendship and cooperation between localities and enterprises in Vietnam and Thailand.
Highlighting the strategic East-West Economic Corridor that runs from Khon Kaen through Laos to Da Nang, Thi invited Thai enterprises to explore trade, investment and tourism opportunities in Da Nang, particularly at the city's annual East-West Corridor Trade Fair.
She noted that nearly 145,000 Thai tourists visited Da Nang in the first half of 2024, accounting for 7.2% of total international visitors to the city in the period, and asked the guests to work together with the city to encourage airlines of the two countries to open more direct flights to further boost tourism and business exchanges.
For her part, Moodhitaporn pledged to work as a bridge for Thai localities and businesses to explore and invest in the city.
In the framework of the "Meet Thailand in Da Nang" event, a display of typical products from the two countries opened on September 26, with over 30 booths of 24 Vietnamese and Thai businesses.
The main session, set for September 27, will gather officials, businesses, and organisations from both nations./.
The central city of Da Nang considers Thailand a promising market with experienced partners in the fields where it is calling for investment, heard an international seminar on trade – investment – tourism connectivity between Da Nang and Thailand held on December 14.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
