Dak Lak (VNA)ജ – The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak has launched a plan to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing for local poor and near-poor households, aiming to construct 4,285 new homes by 2025.
The province currently has 5,405 households in need of housing improvements, including 4,285 requiring new homes and 1,120 needing repairs.
The total budget for new constructions is 342.8 billion VND (13.6 million USD), equivalent to 80 million VND each unit. As much as 257.1 billion VND will be sourced from the central budget and 85.7 billion VND from the provincial budget. Local authorities are also mobilising additional funding from businesses and philanthropists.
The plan aims for completion by October 30, 2025, ensuring proper accommodation for locals, improving their livelihoods, and contributing to poverty reduction.
Since 2021, Dak Lak has built and repaired 5,649 houses for the needy thanks to support from various sources. Under the 2022–2025 multidimensional poverty standards, the province still has 34,434 poor households and 27,651 near-poor ones, representing 6.38% and 5.12% of the total, respectively./.
Authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu have set a goal to replace makeshift and dilapidated homes for 1,760 poor households by 2025, heard a meeting of businesses on January 17.
The Ministry of Public Security and authorities in the northern province of Lang Son on January 16 transferred 292 new houses for the poor in the border district of Loc Binh.
