Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh had a meeting with the Republic of Korea (RoK) National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun in Seoul on November 22 to seek specific measures to forge the two countries’ future partnership, especially in legislation.

Seoul (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh had ameeting with the Republic of Korea (RoK) National Assembly Speaker ChungSye-kyun in Seoul on November 22 to seek specific measures to forge the twocountries’ future partnership, especially in legislation.
Binh affirmed that Vietnam treasures the strategic cooperativepartnership with the RoK and hopes to further bolster the ties, highlighting developmentsin bilateral collaboration, especially after the Vietnam visit of the RoK’s toplegislator in April 2017.
He suggested that the two parliaments strengthen cooperation andexperience sharing, especially in legislation, supervision and decision-makingactivities.
The two countries should also foster affiliation in culture, education,tourism, labour and people-to-people contacts, while supporting each other atregional and international inter-parliamentary forums, he said.
Binh also proposed that the RoK create favourable conditions for theVietnamese community, especially women married to Korean men, to settle down theirlives in the host country.
Both countries should soon sign an agreement on civil and trade support,and consider renewing the memorandum of understanding on the sending andreceiving of Vietnamese labourers in the RoK that will expire in May 2018.
For his part, Chung Sye-kyun expressed hope for closer ties between thetwo parliaments, and pledged to create optimal conditions for the growth of thebilateral strategic cooperative partnership, and continue seeking practical measuresto support the Vietnamese community in the RoK.
The same day, Binh had a meeting with Chairman of the RoK’sAnti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Park Un-jong, during which he laudedthe commission’s assistance to the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate in pilotinga project to evaluate the effectiveness of anti-corruption work in Vietnamusing RoK methods.
Underlining corruption prevention as the major interest of Vietnam in buildinga growth-enabling government, Binh asked for the commission’s continued supportin completing a tool of evaluating anti-corruption work at provincial level andbuilding other tools for government agencies and State-owned sector.
Park Un-jong said that the RoK is keen on cooperating with Vietnam inspecific areas such as sharing experience and anti-corruption policies, andorganising joint inspections and conferences.-VNA
