Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Science andTechnology (MST) launched a ceremony to launch the Vietnam-Korea Institute ofScience and Technology (V-KIST) in Hanoi on November 21.
MST Minister Chu Ngoc Anh said that information technologyand biological technology will be the two main aspects of the V-KIST.
He expressed his hope that the institute will become aleading multi-sector organisation in scientific research and technologydevelopment and application to serve Vietnam’s industries.
It will also help enhance the country’s scientific andtechnological potential, increase businesses’ competitiveness and contribute toeconomic development, he added.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Damshowed his belief that the V-KIST will overcome all difficulties and growstrongly, contributing to scientific research as well as scientific andtechnological reform in Vietnam, and intensifying the Vietnam-Republic of Koreastrategic cooperative partnership.
The launch of the institute is of significance as it tookplace on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the bilateraldiplomatic ties, he stated.
RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Lee Hyuk affirmed that the V-KISTis the biggest non-refundable aid project of his country.
At the launch ceremony, the institute signed a cooperationagreement with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology and memoranda ofunderstanding on cooperation with the Hanoi National University, HanoiDepartment of Science and Technology, Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group(Viettel) and Traphaco Joint Stock Company.-VNA
