Dien Bien (VNA) - Police in the northwesternborder province of Dien Bien have seized 110,000 methamphetamine pills intwo separate cases.
While patrolling in Noong Bua ward in Dien BienPhu city on March 31 afternoon, local police officers detected a suspecttrading meth with two others.
The trio resisted fiercely and fled, but thepolice subsequently arrested a man identified as Hang A Khu, 29, residing inDien Bien Dong district’s Pu Nhi commune and found him in possession of 20packs containing 20,000 meth pills.
A day earlier, the provincial police seized90,000 meth pills and arrested a Lao national. The operation was a joint effortby the police departments of Dien Bien province and the Lao provinces of LuangPrabang and Phongsali.
The police also seized a motorbike, a mobilephone and other items.
The Lao man said he had bought the meths inBorikhamxay province of Laos and transported them to Luang Prabang for sale toa Vietnamese who has not been identified.

The border guard force of the northern province of Lang Son on March 21 arrested a man transporting 993 meth tablets and about 0.5kg of heroin in Yen Khoai commune, Loc Binh district.
According to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), this year’s campaign provided long-term aid for 3,785 individuals and organisations. Support included houses, clean water systems, school meal facilities, books, and livelihood assistance, with a total value of more than 118 billion VND.
