Dong Nai: renovated restaurant fire kills 6, injures 1
Six people were killed and another injured in a fire broken out in a restaurant under renovation on the afternoon of December 21 in Long Khanh town in the southern province of Dong Nai.

Dong Nai (VNA) – Six people were killed and another injured in afire broken out in a restaurant under renovation on the afternoon of December21 in Long Khanh town in the southern province of Dong Nai.
Firefighters said the fire broke out when a group of welders and workers hiredto renovate the restaurant were installing a styrofoam ceiling and soundproofmaterials, and it quickly engulfed the entire restaurant.
As the restaurant has only one door to escape, the welders and workers rushedto the toilet and all were suffocated.
Pham Huu Khanh Duy, the owner of the restaurant, was among the deceased.
Police are investigating further into the case.

More than 4,100 high-rise buildings in Vietnam are at high risk of fire, the interdisciplinary team of the Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Construction concluded in a recent investigation.

At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
The VNA delegation, led by General Director Vu Viet Trang, actively participated in the event, engaging in both professional and diplomatic activities.
