Hanoi (VNA) -🃏 Hanoi has officially installed over 600 surveillance camera clusters on its roads to control traffic violations round the clock, according to the municipal Division of Traffic Police.

This is part of the city's efforts to address traffic violations, improve traffic management effectiveness, and technology application in ensuring traffic order and safety, towards raising public awareness and reducing traffic accidents. Traffic violations, including running the red light, will be recorded and handled and fined either directly or remotely using recorded footage.
This system contributes to modernising traffic management, and improving the efficiency of handling administrative violations through digital technologies. The 600 surveillance camera clusters continuously record traffic violations, with footage transmitted directly to the traffic command centre of the municipal Division of Traffic Police. At the centre, officers analyse videos, identify violations, record license plate details. The information will then be forwarded to task forces on patrol. Upon receiving information about violating vehicles, the task forces on site will intercept those for an immediate fine.
For cases where on-the-spot intervention is not possible, data is stored, and violators will be required to settle their fines at a police station. Additionally, when stopping a vehicle isn’t feasible, authorities will conduct further verification and send official violation notices to offenders, following regulations under Circular No. 73/2024/TT-BCA. In addition to handling violations, the camera system also enables authorities to proactively monitor traffic conditions, detect accidents or incidents promptly, assist security forces in maintaining traffic safety, prevent congestion, and support other agencies in maintaining public security and order, and combating crimes./.
