HCM City (VNA) – Secretary of Ho Chi MinhCity’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen held a meeting on September 8 withvisiting Governor of Phnom Penh Khuong Sreng, during which both emphasised theimportance of educating younger generations on the special Vietnam- Cambodiarelationship.

Welcoming the governor’s working visit on the occasion ofthe Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year, Nen considered it a vivid manifestationof the two countries’ time-honoured friendship, thus contributing tostrengthening the relations between the two cities.

He thanked the Government and people of Cambodia and PhnomPenh for sharing and supporting his city during the COVID-19 outbreak,suggesting both sides intensify collaboration in tourism, education andtraining, and people-to-people exchanges.

The city leader also proposed Phnom Penh authoritiescontinue paying attention to the Vietnamese community living there, andfacilitating the operation of the Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital in Cambodia.

For his part, Khuong Sreng briefed the host on the outcomesof his talks with Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City PhanVan Mai, during which both sides agreed to boost collaboration in education andtraining of medical staff, tourism development, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Phnom Penh administration always supports and createsfavourable conditions to expand the operational scale of the Cho Ray - PhnomPenh Hospital, thus bringing practical benefits to the people of Phnom Penh inparticular and Cambodia in general, and contributing to tightening the precioustraditional friendship and solidarity between the two nations, he added./.
