Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia's Ministry of Housing and Settlements announced on January 9 that the Kemayoran Athletes' Village, formerly used for the 2018 Asian Games, will be revitalised into public h♐ousing by April 2025.

Following its use as accommodation for athletes during the Asian Games in 2018, some towers in the complex were repurposed as an emergency field hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022. The government then decided to convert sections of the complex into residences for the state apparatus and low-income residents.
Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait said the ministry will establish the criteria for eligible occupants and conduct a review to determine the unit rent price to ensure its affordability for the people. Meanwhile, Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry Setya Utama stated that based on the related presidential instruction, half of the available units in the Athletes' Village will be allocated to low-income residents and state apparatus. The revitalisation project encompasses 7,426 apartment units distributed across 10 towers. The 367-billion-IDR (22.6 million USD) project commenced on August 26 last year, and is expected to be completed in April 2025./.
