Indonesia, France cooperate in building environmentally friendly fishing ports
Indonesia’s Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (KKP) has said it will develop environmentally friendly fishing ports in the country in cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD).

Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia’s Maritime Affairsand Fisheries Ministry (KKP) has said it will develop environmentally friendlyfishing ports in the country in cooperation with the French Development Agency(AFD).
The cooperation in the environmentally friendlyseaport project was discussed with France’s Minister of Maritime Affairs,Annick Girardin, during her recent visit to Indonesia.
"This collaborative project can help utiliseenvironmentally friendly capture fisheries resources in the fishing portareas," acting director general of capture fisheries at KKP MuhammadZaini was cited by Indonesia's Antara News Agency in a press release as saying.
The cooperation is expected to strengthen bilateralrelations between the two countries and advance the marine and fisheriessector, in accordance with the declaration of a strategic partnership betweenthe Indonesian and French presidents in 2017, he added.
As part of a working visit to Indonesia, MinisterGirardin on June 9 headed to the Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) inMuara Baru, North Jakarta.
During her visit, Girardin expressed the hope that thecooperation project would help improve the living standards of people incoastal areas.
The problems in the marine and fisheries sectorexperienced by Indonesia are not much different from those of France, sheadded.
"I am very happy to be able to visit Indonesia tosee its fishery activities. I appreciate Indonesia's steps to eradicate illegalfishing because the preservation of marine ecosystems is important for us tokeep it sustainable," she said./.
