Jakarta (VNA) - An Indonesiancourt on November 23 sentenced Saiful Muhtorir to nine years in prison for hisrole in a deadly gun and suicide bombing attack in Jakarta last January.

Saiful Muhtorir was found guilty of helpingfunnel cash to the militants behind the assault, which killed eight people.

At the courtroom, he accepted the judge’sverdict, saying he will not file an appeal.

Muhtorir, also known as Abu Gar, was also indictedfor weapons possession. Prosecutors had been seeking a ten-year sentence forhis crimes.

Earlier,three others were jailed for their roles in a series of attacks, with dozens ofothers arrested over suspected involvement.

Theattacks took place in Jakarta on January 14, including seven continuous attacksat the Sarinah shopping complex and another near a Starbucks outlet oppositethe shopping centre, killing at least eight people and injuring 20  others.

Itwas the first major attack for seven years in Indonesia and was claimed by theIslamic State group./.
