Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s pepper exports in the January-August period rose 16.57 percent year on year to 24,460 tonnes, according to the country’s Agriculture Ministry.
Indonesia produced 82,170 tonnes of pepper in2016, up 0.82 percent from a year earlier, said Chief of the ministry’s DataCenter Information System, Suwandi.
The increase in pepper production helped reducethe country’s pepper imports to 690 tonnes in the first eight months.
Pepper ismostly grown in the five provinces of Bangka Belitung, Lampung, South Sumatra,East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.
