Japan continues supplying non-refundable aid for Cambodia

Phnom Penh (VNA) 🍨– The Japanese Government has agreed to provide a non-refundable aid package worth 3.206 billion JPY (equivalent to 30 million USD) for the Cambodian Royal Government, according to the Japanese Embassy in Cambodia and Cambodian press agencies on October 1.

An agreement to this effect was signed on September 27, detailing that the package will be used for increasing the capacity of bus transportation in Phnom Penh and supporting bomb and mine victims.
Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Long Visalo said the bus transportation capacity enhancing project worth 1.396 billion JPY will look to improve traffic and the living environment in the capital. The project supporting bomb and mine victims will cost 1.81 billion JPY. It will be carried out in the districts of Ba Nan, Rattanak Mondol and Sam Lot, Battambang provinces, targeting to enable 21,000 local people to live in safe, improved living conditions with new roads and water sewages and farming training courses.
In 2015, Cambodia received over 67.45 million USD in non-refundable aid and 146.6 million USD in preferential aid from the Japanese Government. In the first half of this year, it got over 42.64 million USD in aid from Japan.-VNA
