Justice ministry hosts online ASEAN Law Forum 2020

Hanoi (VNA) -
The Ministry of Justice in coordination with ASEAN member countries andthe ASEAN Secretariat held an online law forum on November 4.

The ASEAN LawForum 2020 had the theme of “ASEAN experience sharing of enhanced efficiency in lawimplementation, and enforcement of court judgements and decisions in civilmatters”.

In his openingremarks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Khanh Ngoc said the Vietnamese Government hasput forth programmes, plans, and solutions for law building, while ensuring efficiencyin the enforcement of laws and court judgements and decisions in civil matters.

There remainlimitations in the work, however, which require great efforts to overcome, he pointedout.

“Vietnam wishes toshare its knowledge and experience with other ASEAN member countries as well asnations worldwide,” Ngoc said.

ASEAN Deputy SecretaryGeneral RobertMatheus Michael Tene praised the ministry’s efforts in organising the online forumin the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Minister of Foreign AffairsNguyen Quoc Dung, who is also General Secretary of the National ASEAN 2020Committee, said the justice ministry's hosting of the legal forum will contribute toVietnam’s success in its capacity as the ASEAN Chair 2020, especially as the 37th ASEAN Summit is on the horizon.

Within the framework of the forum,experts from the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Japan InternationalCooperation Agency (JICA), and Germany and France introduced outstanding modelson the issue from foreign countries./.
