Kien Giang to receive remains of 10 volunteer soldiers from Cambodia
Authorities of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang and of Cambodia's Koh Kong province have signed a document on the repatriation of the remains of 10 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers unearthed in the latter in the 2023-2024 dry season.

At the signing ceremony, Acting Governor of Koh Kong Samkhit Vien lauded the collaboration between the two provinces and pledged further cooperation with the Vietnamese side in the years to come.
𝄹Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hung, head of the Kien Giang provincial Military High Command's team K92, said the team launched their operations at 52 locations, excavating 11,278 pits and discovering the remains, which brought up the total number of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts found in Koh Kong to date to 158. Following their upcoming repatriation, related memorial and burial ceremonies will be held.
𓂃 Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang People’s Committee Nguyen Luu Trung noted that the team has collected the remains of 2,131 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Cambodia’s Koh Kong, Kampot, Kep, and Preah Sihanouk provinces since 2,000. He attributed the outcomes to the close coordination and support of the Cambodian localities./.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Kien Giang province and the Committee of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland of Kampot province on November 16 organsied a conference to review the one-year implementation of the emulation plan to build a shared border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development in the 2023-2025 period.
Sixty-eight more sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers who died in Cambodia fighting to liberate it from the Khmer Rouge have been repatriated, said the Kien Giang provincial Military Command.
Authorities in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai on May 23 held memorial and reburial services at the Duc Co district martyrs’ cemetery for the remains of 21 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who fought and lost their lives in Cambodia during wartime.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
