Kon Tum sees remarkable progress in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses

Kon Tum (VNA) – The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has mobilised its entire political system to implement Directive No. 42/CT-TTg signed by the Prime Minister on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, helping to improve living conditions for local residents, especially those in ethnic minority-inhabited areas.
Sa Thay district is among the localities that have most effectively implemented the programme, with 75 repaired houses and 219 newly-constructed abodes.
Statistics showed that Sa Thay district still has 346 temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be repaired or constructed. The local authority has focused on raising public awareness and mobilising public support to accelerate the work.
Trinh Dinh Lam, Vice Chairman of the Sa Thay District People's Committee, stated that the district has stayed on track with the outlined plan. Teams within the project have paid attention to mobilising resources from organisations and donors, and integrating funding from various programmes and projects to effectively perform the work.
Along with maintaining national security and defence, the provincial Border Guard Command has actively supported the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in border areas, helping local residents stabilise their lives.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses emphasised the goal of completing the programme by October 31, 2025, while chairing the committee's third meeting to review progress and set future tasks. So far, over 65,000 houses have been completed and handed over, while more than 56,000 are under construction.
A total of 121,638 temporary and dilapidated houses across Vietnam had been renovated or replaced as of March 6. Of these, 65,564 homes have been completed, while construction of 56,074 others has been commenced. Specifically, 10,338 houses have been built or repaired for those who rendered services to revolution.
Secretary of the Lang Son provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem urged localities, agencies, and relevant units to mobilise all available resources to accelerate the removal of makeshift houses for residents.
