Hoa Binh (VNA) – A Lao delegation ledby Vice President Phankham Viphavanh visited the northwestern mountainousprovince of Hoa Binh on July 19.|
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee BuiVan Tinh briefed his guests on the local socio-economic development andpotential.
He highlighted the friendship and close tiesbetween Vietnam and Laos in general, and between Lao localities and Hoa Binhparticular, citing his province’s support for Laos’ Huaphan province in schooland hospital building.
Phankham Viphavanh, who is also Politburo memberand standing member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee’sSecretariat, lauded the achievements Hoa Binh has achieved recently.
He thanked Hoa Binh for helping northern Lao provincesin building schools and hospitals and expressed his hope that the two sideswill share development experience, thus contributing to consolidating therelationship between the two nations.
The Vice President agreed on the construction,preservation and protection of a national historical relic site where thepreparatory meeting for the second Congress of the Lao People’s Party (now theLao People’s Revolutionary Party) took place in December 1971.
He said that he will instruct different bodies of Laos to supply informationand documents on the country and its relationship with Hoa Binh to be displayedat the site.
On the occasion, the Lao delegation also visited the relic site, located in thecampus of the provincial Military Command.-VNA
A ceremony was held in Hanoi on July 18 to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos and 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
Vietnam and Laos should continue working to deepen their political ties, coordinate closely in defence, security, and external affairs, improve economic, cultural, education, scientific and technological links, and step up ministry, sector and locality affiliations, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has said.
