Laos to hold festival to promote handicrafts, tourism

Hanoi (VNA) – The 23rd Lao Handicraft Festival will be held in Vientiane to promote traditional handicraft products as well as to create a festive atmosphere in the city꧙ for tourists during the Visit Laos Year 2024.

The event will be held from October 26 to November 3 to celebrate the Lao National Handicraft Day on November 1, Lao national TV reported on June 18.
It will also celebrate the recognition of Laos's traditional craft of Naga motif weaving by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity. It will create an opportunity for local communities and buyers to visit, purchase, and experience the diversity of Lao handicraft products, showcasing the skills of Lao artisans as well as promoting products by local artisans and handicraft entrepreneurs from all over the country. In addition, the festival will support the Lao government policy of alleviating poverty and creating more linkages with other ASEAN members in terms of handicraft./.
