Laos wishes to boost sci-tech cooperation with HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – Laos hopes for support from authorities in Ho Chi Minh♔ City to facilitate joint science and technology projects, said Lao Minister of Science and Technology Boviengkham Vongdara at a meeting with Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem on June 15.
The visiting minister said his delegation has toured the local high-tech park and centre for quality measurement to learn about their operations.
He lauded Ho Chi Minh City’s socio-economic growth, in which science and technology have an important role.
Welcoming his guest, Liem said delegation exchanges between Vietnam and Laos in the field of science and technology provide insights and boost connectivity.
He reviewed past cooperation between the southern city and Laos in the field, adding that the local authorities will do their best to assist future joint projects.
The same day, the Lao delegation met with the HCM City Department of Science and Technology to discuss a range of topics, including technology transfer and scientific research programmes.-VNA
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam received in Hanoi on January 28 a delegation of the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture, led by Minister Bosengkham Vongdara.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
