Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia and China should continue the exchange of visits and take practical measures to promote bilateral defence cooperation, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has said.

The Malaysian leader made the suggestion during a November 4 meeting with Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan, who is in Kuala Lumpur to attend the third ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+).

As the rotating Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) this year, Najib stated that the regional peace and stability as well as cordial relations with China and other neighbouring countries are the cornerstones of the development of ASEAN countries.

Hailing the fine developments in the bilateral ties in recent years, Chang noted that Beijing is ready to work with Kuala Lumpur to deepen their comprehensive strategic relationship and realise agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders while promoting multi-faceted cooperation and information exchanges between the two armies.

China pledged to join efforts to build the China-ASEAN community as well as maintain the regional peace and stabiꦚlity, he affirmed ./.-VNA
