Malaysia, China exchange 31 agreements on multifaceted cooperation

Kuala Lumpur (VNA)⛄ – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese top leader Xi Jinping on April 16 witnessed the exchange of 31 memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and documents covering various sectors of cooperation between the two countries, including trade services, digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), and tourism.

Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi exchanged MoUs on jointly promoting cooperation under the Global Security Initiative and strengthening development cooperation and promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiatives. They also reached an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of official and ordinary passports.
In the field of trade, the two sides exchanged three agreements on cooperation in trade services, upgrading the Malaysia-China “Two Countries Twin Parks” initiative, and standardisation. In addition, the two countries exchanged a number of agreements to enhance cooperation in railway, digital technology, and education. A highlight was the MoU between the Malaysian government and China’s Xinhua News Agency in the field of news and information. Through this MoU, national public broadcaster RTM and Xinhua will collaborate on joint media activities, especially news exchange and co-production of programmes and documentaries to showcase the respective countries’ uniqueness and foster deeper mutual understanding./.
