Hanoi (VNA)🧸 – Malaysian Prime MinisterNajib Razak on May 22 called for more efforts to search for nine navy memberswho have been missing since May 20 as their boat lost contact during a regular patroloff the southern state of Johor.

In a social media posting, PM Najib expressedhis wish that the search and rescuewill be expanded and strengthened. The same day, Malaysian authorities announcedthat 11 warships and two aircraft have been deployed to the scene to search forthe missing navy boat. The missing boat, which belongs to KD Perdanawarship, carried one officer and eight others, went missing offshore CapeSadili of Johor state on May 20. Before the incident, KD Perdana and the boatwere chasing illegal foreign fishing boats out of Malaysia’s waters.  Malaysia’s navy believed that the crew membersmay seek shelter on an island or a fishing boat in the area.-VNA
